Field Day activities are held every year on the 4th
full weekend of June, by hams all across the country. It was conceived as
an emergency exercise; testing the capabilities of groups, as well as
individuals, to operate without the use of commercial power. This would be the
case, in the event of a disaster. But, besides that, it is a lot of fun and a
chance to get together with friends and contact hams in other areas of the
country and the world. The size of Field Day
operations can range from small and simple, to large and elaborate. Whatever the
scale, all who participate say that it is enjoyable, a real learning
experience and can't wait for next year.
So, when you hear of a club or group having a Field Day
event near you, come out and see how much fun it is
to "Talk It Up" on the air !
